In Malaysia, Registration of Marriage for non-Muslim couples is compulsory. According to the Law Reform Act (Marriage and Divorce) 1976 (Act 164), it is mandatory for non-Muslim couples to register their marriage with the Marriage and Divorce Division.
Registration of Marriage can be made at the offices of the National Registration Department (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara), the Malaysian Representative Office overseas, at the church, temple, or at an association by a certified Assistant Registrar of Marriage.
Having said that, the first and most important step is to get the original registration application form (JPN.KC02) and submit the required documents in terms to register your marriage in Malaysia.
According to National Registration Department (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara) website, all non-muslim wedding couples can obtain the Registration Application form (JPN.KC02) at the Marriage Counter (Kaunter Perkahwinan) of all National Registration Department offices (Pejabat JPN Negeri / Daerah / Daerah Kecil & Cawangan) in terms to register of marriage in Malaysia.
Below are all the National Registration Department Malaysia office’s addresses and contact information for non-Muslim couple’s references.
